Prickly Pain

Today we have discovered the Prickly Pair. They ake, they stick and they are unbearable. As we were walking up the river a prickly pear coming from cacti were every were. The Cores feet were so sore, and bleeding. My feet were horrible after the hike.

The Fork

We have come to a fork in the river. We can not decide which fork to take. One river led to the Shoshone Indians and the other led to ???? SO we finally decided to take to groups and head up both rivers. We are currently on foot walking up the south side.

Caw Caw Caw

It turns out the white crow who has followed us throughout the expedition is like our guide. He warns me when there is an animal approaching. Today we had another encounter with a grizzly, and if it wasn't for the crow, I wouldn't be the one telling u the story right now.

Darting Buffalo

I was sleeping quietly next to Lewis when i heard one of the members of our crew shout. I immediately assumed that it was a grizzly and sped out of the lodge and was running in the direction of a charging buffalo. My eyes locked on his as we grew closer, and at the last moment I maneuvered right and bit his ear. In my tired state I was thinking of how brave, but I was shaken out of the state because I had forgotten to release my jaw from the buffalos ear and was being summersaulted all over the hard ground.

Expedition Update

So far the Core of Discovery has had great luck. Myself is very content because I've been getting fed extra snacks and I'm beginning to get plump. Anyway, the Core has now discovered many new and exciting animals, met Indians, and the captains have updated their journals everyday. I'm sure Mr. Jefferson will be pleased.

Meow

Today we had an encounter which appeared to be a giant cat. A main of bright orange, and whiskers as long as our rifles.  It was sleeping up in a cave and I looked inside to find it trying to attack me, but then someone fired a rifle and the Lion ran away. This was a very dangerous animal.

Seamans Unkown Match

Today in Camp a beautiful black dog walked into hour camp. You could see her ribs, she had yellow teeth and a deep moan. One of our men through some meat at her, I back off so she wouldn't mistake me for a threat. She finished the meat faster that i could blink and then darted back into the trees. I knew she's be back.

Grizzly...

April 29, 1805

Today we had passed the mouth of Yellowstone.  Captain Clark and one of the men, walked up to two Grizzly bears and shot them with no trouble. This specific grizzles were not full grown so it was easier to kill them. But little did they know what a full grown Grizzly was capable off...........

Antelope

September 6, 1804

Today we have discovered a truly magnificent creature. This animal of which we named "Antelope" is a very quick mammal. With hoofed feet and abnormally large eyes, this animal could run faster than a bird could fly. Its back has sandy colored hair which flops up and down when this animal is running. This specific creature can run faster than one of our musket balls.

Cyotes

August 11, 1804

There I stood, quiet as a mouse, trying not to attract attention to myself. This pack of coyotes did not look as much of a threat but there was no way I could handle all of them. I silently watched these ravenous creatures feed off our day old scraps. I figured that if I tried to turn and sprint back to camp, that i would be no match for there Superior agility and speed, so I decided to stand my ground so i would look like a much more serious threat.

Prairie Dogs

September 6, 1804

Today we have discovered a sort of animal which the humans call a dog, well believe me it sure didn't look like any kind of dog I'd ever seen. These animals were small golden brown, scrawny, and quick little rascals. They live under ground in little holes. The were so quick that my jaw couldn't close before the disappeared.

Buffalo

August 23, 1804

Today in camp Joe Fields had darted into camp panting and yelling that he had apparently killed his first Buffalo. the buffalo killed was covered in woolly brown fur. It had a large hump on its back, stubs for horns, and big bulging brown eyes. As I took my first bite of this rather large creature, I thought of how lucky I was.

Discovery Report For Lewis & Clark Expedition

Today I've discovered a crow with white feathers. This crow sounded the same, smelled the same, but didn't look the same. Lewis didn't appear to be very interested in this bird. the bird had a black beak, ruffled feathers, and a very annoying crow.

Seaman The Watchdog

July 4, 1804

Seaman is a very attentive watchdog.  His nose does all the work though. If there is a strong breeze he can smell an animal up to a mile away, and if the smell is stronger he can smell even farther. Seaman is a very perceptive dog with ears like an owl.  He can hear things that will be approaching miles and miles away. He's a very good watchdog.

Lewis And Clark. The Explorers

May 23, 1804

Lewis: Lewis was tall, brown eyed, and had brown hair. Lewis was Secretary for Thomas Jefferson who must have been impressed with his talents. He is an American explorer, soldier, and a public administrator.

Clark: William Clark was an American explorer, soldier, Indian Agent, and territorial governor. He is best known of his role in the Lewis and Clark Expedition.

Captain Lewis' Fall

May 23, 1804

Oh No!!! I turn around to see if Captain Lewis is fallowing behind me. The platform on which he was standing gives way and Lewis disappears. I take a moment to load the chain of events that had happened and once I'm back to reality I run to the edge and pear down to see if Lewis is ok. The quick witted man that my master is, he grabbed hi knife and slashed it into the cliff. I gave him a look of worry and apparently he understands dog because he said everything fine. He slowly used hi knife as support and was up next to me once more. He told me "that's why we have two captains".

The Captains Dog

May 23, 1804

Seaman is a very practical dog. He is a black Labrador with green eyes and a large nose. He has common sense and curiosity. Seaman is a caring dog who obeys his owners rules. His nose is top notch and is able to smell his surroundings within 10 seconds. A truly worthy dog for Captain Lewis on his expedition with William Clark to explore the Louisiana purchase. Seaman kept Lewis company when times were rough on the Mississippi.
